James 4:13-17, My Morning Fog

I’m starting this blog not even sure what I’m going to do with it. I just feel God telling me that I’m supposed to get to blogging for some reason or another, so I’m starting. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been thrust headlong into a season where things are developing rapidly and I have zero idea where any of it is going. I’ll extrapolate on the details as I blog more and more in the coming days and weeks, but for now, I want to throw out this scripture as the center of my very first blog post, and the title of my blog (at least for now), and hopefully by doing so, I will encourage myself to keep it at the center of my focus as I continue to move through this season and all of the others God brings me to.

This is the passage of scripture that our pastor preached on yesterday…and…get this, IT WAS ALSO ONE OF THE SCRIPTURES FEATURED IN MY DEVOTIONAL THIS MORNING. Get out of town, right? God is not messing around with me, He is getting straight. to. the. point (to the point no fakin’, cookin’ MC’s like a pound of bacon)

James 4:13-17

13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” 16 Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.

17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

So, here I am. I’m trying to do two things in this season:

1) Follow God and not guess at where all of it is going until His appointed time.
2) Not miss anything that I’m supposed to be doing.

Oh, and I guess a third is that I’m supposed to be blogging about it all.

So, if you need me, I’ll be here trying to follow God through my Morning Fog, this life of mine where I’m only here for a minute and can’t see very far ahead while I’m on my journey…but God can. So I’ll hold tight to his hand and let Him steer. Simple enough, right? BAHAHAHAHA….no. Stay tuned…
